AI visibility, also called Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), is how often and how prominently a brand is named and cited by AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude and Gemini when buyers ask for the best tool in a category.
How does Avantas measure AI visibility?
Avantas fetches your public pages and well-known files over plain HTTP, exactly what an AI crawler sees, and scores seven weighted dimensions (crawler access, indexing and snippet controls, what is readable without JavaScript, answer coverage, comparison coverage, technical foundations and structured data) into a single 0-100 index with a ranked fix list. It measures whether anything on your site stops engines using you. Whether they then choose you also depends on what their own search retrieves.

Which AI engines does Avantas cover?
The audit checks whether the crawlers behind Google Search and AI Overviews, the Gemini app, Bing and Copilot, ChatGPT search, Perplexity and Claude can reach your site, whether anything on the page switches them off, and what they can read without running JavaScript.
Why does my site score low even though it loads fine?
Loading fine in a browser is not the same as being usable by an AI engine. A robots.txt rule, a noarchive or nosnippet tag, or content that only appears once JavaScript runs can each shut engines out while the page looks normal to you. Avantas shows which of those is happening and how to fix it.
